Our Team
Gaynor Bennett and Ann Parker
Gaynor Bennett: Originally qualified as a teacher in Exeter, I have been teaching English in the state education system for many years - probably more years than I really care to remember! During that time I have had experience across the entire 6-16 age range in Lancashire, London, Wiltshire, BFES schools in Germany and Cyprus, Middlesbrough and most recently in Northallerton. I was Head of English at King's Manor School in Middlesbrough for 9 years and then , not relishing the idea of less teaching in a senior management role but wanting new challenges, I moved to take the Head of English post at Allertonshire School. I have been there for the last 4 years. I finished at Christmas; Darlington Learning Zone needed my full time commitment.
Ann Parker: After graduating from Newcastle University in the seventies I taught maths in London and then in my home town Middlesbrough. Since then I have taught students at all levels of maths in primary and secondary schools in the region. Most recently I was Acting Head of Maths at Ferryhill School and then Head of Maths for 6 years at Allertonshire School in Northallerton, where Gaynor and I met. I am now devoting all my attention to Darlington Learning Zone students.
We have both prepared students for Key Stage 2 and 3 SATs, common entrance, scholarships and GCSEs with great success. We love teaching and working with young people.
